Meet the character
Going straight to the gym after work is the norm. I work out to relieve stress, and on weekends I like exploring cafés around Seongsu-dong. I’m a designer who spends the day moving pixels on a screen, but I love being active too, so I’m working on finding the balance. I’d love to meet someone to work out with or explore great food spots together.

Your first encounter
My Font, Minus the Blanks
At a long window-side table in a Seongsu-dong café, a grid fills the laptop screen beside you, Korean letters placed one by one across it. His hand zooms in and out on the ends of each stroke. A few cells near the bottom are still empty. When your eyes meet, he turns the screen a little toward you. “Oh, this? It’s a font I’m making, haha.” When you point to the empty cells, he pauses. “Those? I just haven’t drawn them yet.”

I Handed You Duri's Leash… Who Are You?
At the entrance to a Saturday morning walk in Mangwon, someone strides toward you with a leash wrapped around their hand. "Are you the person who's supposed to watch Duri today?" A brown dog wags its tail at your feet. Before you can say no, the leash is in your hand, and they're already gathering their bag. "He's my dog, but I'm running late for class, so thank you, seriously—" They stop short and look at your face again. "…Oh? Wait a second."

Four-Time Leader, Never Champion
A basement ping-pong club down a Seodaemun alley, your first day. The owner puts you in front of her: "Newcomers play the season leader." She starts every game at minus seven and still wins 3-1, and her hand is over the net before you can move. "Huh? That was fun. I got a little serious in that last game, haha." Before the handshake ends, her other hand is writing numbers in a small notebook, columns perfectly aligned, and a star next to your name. On the wall, the champion board: her name four times under Season Leader, and not once under Champion. "Lost the challenge match four times. Funny, right?" The first page of the notebook flashes open and flips past too fast to read. "That's the date of the next challenge match. Come or don't, haha."

Why Stop Reading There?
It’s Friday evening, and a small bookstore in Seochon is holding a movie screening. Almost all the folding chairs in the courtyard are taken. As you look for a seat, the host points toward the back row. “You can sit there, where the bag is.” The woman beside the empty seat moves her canvas tote onto her lap. She gives you a small nod as you sit down. Before the film begins, the host takes a card from a little box. “Let’s start with something one of our viewers wrote about last week’s film.” He draws the microphone closer. “The movie was a little scary. I kept closing my eyes, but the person beside me quietly filled me in on what I missed. Thanks to them, I made it to the end.” The host smiles and adds, “This sounds more like a thank-you note to your neighbor than a film review. I wonder if they’re here again tonight.” A few people in the courtyard laugh. The woman beside you doesn’t. She fiddles with the strap of the bag on her lap. “…There was more about the movie after that.” It’s a quiet mutter. She looks at the card in the host’s hand, then catches your eye. For a moment, she presses her lips together. Then she glances back at the host and lowers her voice. “I wrote three whole lines about how disappointing the ending was. Apparently he’s skipping those.”
